What changes can Nintendo implement to challenge the big dogs in the market








Nintendo Corporation (OTCMKTS:NTDOY) announced its upcoming video game console codename “NX", currently in its developing stages. The console will be a successor to the Nintendo Wii U and rumors indicate that this will be Nintendo’s first device to be a Disc-free console. However, Nintendo needs to learn from its mistakes, made from previous console, and avoid it in the future.



Nintendo was once known as a gaming giant and crushed all their competitors in the mid-90’s. With time, Nintendo struggled to compete against Sony Corporation’s (ADR) Play Station and Microsoft Corporation Xbox. Nintendo needs to step up its game and learn from the mistakes made with the Wii U, to compete with big giants. The Wii U has bad online services, compared to Sony’s PSN and Microsoft Xbox Live Services.


The original controller for the Wii U, with built-in screen, was not comfortable and the design lacked durability and precision, as compared to PlayStation and Xbox controllers. Nintendo introduced a second controller for the Wii U “Wii U Pro”, but had similar features to the Xbox 360’s controller, so it was not considered innovative.

The Wii U console had an inferior design, graphic, and memory specification, as compared to other consoles, which could be a reason for many big titles not being released on the console. The game library for the Wii U was not impressive, as the console had hardware limitations. There are big titles being released on Nintendo’s handheld console, the 3DS, as it has an impressive hardware, in comparison with other competing handheld consoles.
