The Next Elder Scrolls Game Is A While Away

VP of Marketing at Bethesda, Peter Hines, says that they are completely focused on Fallout 4 right now

For those people waiting for the next game in Bethesda’s "The Elder Scrolls" series, it looks like they are going to have to wait a bit longer.

In an interview with DualShockers at the recent Gamescom in Germany, Peter Hines, VP of Marketing at Bethesda, said that it is going to be a “very long time” before they talk about a sequel to Skyrim. He said that they are completely involved on "Fallout 4" and that they are focusing on the game to get it done as soon as possible.

This means that the Elder Scrolls online is going to be the latest TES game for the near future, and it is going be a while before the next game in the series is announced and released. The Elder Scrolls Online was recently released on Sony Corp.’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, after being on Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows PC for a year, since the game’s initial release on the platform back in April 2014.

For now it seems like Bethesda has a lot of work to do on The Elder Scrolls Online, which has a DLC already planned for next year, and maybe even more DLCs after that. Other than that, they also have to work on the mod support for Fallout 4, and maybe numerous other things that need their attention right now.

Its well known that Bethesda has a tradition of working on a single game at a time, and the studio’s working capacity and size has remained the same for a few years now. Putting things in perspective, the size of Bethesda right now is roughly the same as when the studio released "Skyrim" back in November 2011.
