PC-exclusive XCOM 2 has been delayed till 2016 because developers want to give fans a better experience
The previous XCOM games were fun titles on consoles, but the upcoming XCOM 2 is going to be PC-exclusive. According to Gamespot, this hotly-anticipated title has been apparently delayed till 2016. The PC strategy title was expected to launch later this year, but it will now be releasing on February 5, 2016.
2K Games, a division of Take Two Interactive (NASDAQ:TTWO), and Firaxix games stated on their official website: “We've set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to Enemy Unknown. We just need a little more time to make it the best possible game."
Firaxis want to create a much more entertaining experience for fans, so hopefully the delay will give them time to make that happen. Previous title XCOM: Enemy Unknown was one of the better multi-platform games of the last generation, but going PC-exclusive would give the PC gaming market an edge. The upcoming game is set 20 years in the future, where humans have been conquered by an alien race, and now live under a new world order..
We might possibly see a console-port, but that isn’t confirmed yet. It is possible that 2K and Firaxis want to assess the performance on the PC before working on releasing console ports. This generation, we have seen several hit games and with the PC, the sky is the limit. You are not limited by console’s limitations and you can build yourself a heavy duty PC rig that could even outmatch today’s consoles.
