Square Enix Co Ltd Just Cause 3 Developers Giving Away An Entire Island

Avalanche studios comes up with a scheme to give away an entire Island, though there is a catch

Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. (OTCMKTS:SQNXF) and its developers Avalanche studios have announced a special promotion for the fans of the "Just Cause" series. In its latest installment, "Just Cause 3" players will participate in an in game contest for a chance to win an entire Island. However, as you might have guessed there are some conditions attached to the prize.

This is how it’s going to work. The game will be released on December 1, and the person who ends up with the most Chaos Points, which are earned by causing mayhem and destruction in the game, will stand a chance to win his very own Island.

The competition will close 90 days after the game has been released. Square Enix has not confirmed where the Island is located. However, they have stated that the minimum value of the Island is $ 50,000. This seems to be a great offer and a pretty impressive one for just a game contest.

The casual reader will be thinking this is too good to be true, and there must be a catch. Well there is and it’s highlighted in this statement made by Square Enix: "All taxes and fees associated with purchasing and obtaining of Island (including but not limited to attorney's fees, escrow, and closing costs) are the responsibility of the Winner."

"Sponsor does not guarantee the Island to be inhabitable, developed, or reachable by any means other than a boat," Square Enix stated.

Square Enix has also retained the right to change the grand prize at its “Sole Discretion”. There is however an alternative to the Grand Prize, which is a pretty good one. You can forego the Island and just receive a cash prize of $50,000. This seems like a pretty good move, and it would take an extremely adventurous person to pick the Island over the cash prize.

The winner will be selected by the end of March 2016, and prospective participants should know that they need to own a copy of the day one edition to participate in the contest.

It will be interesting to see whether the winner, or any individual for that matter, would prefer to own an Island riddled with problems, instead of opting for a cash prize.
