Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption Sequel: Is It Time?

Unofficial reports contend sequel of Red Dead Revolver to take gamers back to the Wild West

Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO) owned Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption, is an open-world action adventure game themed on the Wild West of the 20th Century. The game has been released for Sony Corporation’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox 360.

The game is a sequel to Red Dead Revolver which was launched in 2004. That game is regarded as one of the best third-person shooters of the last generation consoles. Game critics continue to laud it for its gameplay, animations, story lines, characters and mechanics.

So is it time for Rockstar Games to make a sequel to their stellar AAA title? Recent news reports contend that a former employee of Rockstar Studios confirmed that the sequel would be called Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West. However, no official announcement has been made by Rockstar Studios, as yet.

The former insider also mentions that the previous protagonist, John Marston will not make a comeback. However, three additional characters- Irish, Seth and a customizable character have been added to the upcoming sequel. Reportedly, the game is set twelve years before the events of Red Dead Redemption. Will this game live up to expectations and manage to create a unique story similar to its predecessor?

Rockstar Studios has many unforgettable titles, to its credit. Since it has apparently decided to launch a sequel to Red Dead Revolver, it needs to create an even better experience than the previous title. The choice to add three three characters, could mean that Rockstar intends to create a similar character plot as Grand Theft Auto V.

As the game appears set for release in the coming years, the studio can harness the power of the new consoles and make the open world even more beautiful than the previous title. Will Rockstar Games officially announce a new Red Dead Redemption soon? Whenever it does, it is sure to steal the spotlight.
