IOS 8.4.1 now available

Apple has released an update to iTunes to accompany today’s iOS 8.4.1 release. Only two betas of iOS 8.4.1 were issued to developers before Thursday’s launch. Artists can now show thoughts, photos, music and videos to Connect, right from iTunes.

While there are few user-facing improvements, it appears all of iOS 8.4.1’s changes involve Apple Music, which was released on June 30th. There is now a way to add songs to a new playlist if there aren’t any playlists to choose from. This update is chock full of “improvements and fixes to Apple Music”.

To install the iOS 8.4.1 update, you must have a Wi-Fi connection. Apple iOS 9 was announced at the same event as Apple Music. iOS 9 does not have as many new features as there were in iOS 7 or iOS 8, but it will facilitate battery life improvements and emphasize on under-the-hood optimizations. iOS 9 is now available for beta testers.

Apple also said it fixed issues for artists while posting to Connect, and squashed a bug where tapping Love doesn’t work as expected while listening to Beats 1.

You can now view a list of the artists you’re following on Apple Music. One final fix ensures that the playlists you see in action menus are actually the ones in your library.

To update iTunes to version 12.2.2, you can go to iTunes > Check for Updates from within the iTunes app. You can also run the updater through the App Store.
